Folders, directories, repos—oh my!

You may have noticed over the course of this chapter that there doesn’t seem to be much difference between “folders”, “directories” and even “repos”. In fact, the first two are just different names for the same thing, while the last specifically refers to folders where at least some of the files are tracked by git.

In other words, you can still interact with all of them using finder windows, for example, to add, remove, and open files. The only difference is that, in the case of a repo, you’ll need to use git commands like add and rm to keep everything in order—but we’ll address each of these situations as they arise in future chapters.
